RE: CB Radio

I travel alot in my work, and love my CB. Yes some people out there might get a little rude at times, but that happens everywhere. I have found it to be both useful, and entertaining at times too. I would use it, never hurts to have another way to communicate.

RE: KAWASAKI KFX450R

Have the Suzuki LTR450R, and love it. Look into it before you buy the Kawasaki. I have ran all brands of quads over the years, and love this one the best. It comes stock with the extended A Arms, and wide rear axle. Have taken it to Little Sahara in Oklahoma, and had no probelms with the fuel injection out there. So I wouldn't be afraid of it on the Kawasaki either. Just clean the filters when you are finished for the day. Either way all the machines made these days are very good. You won't go wrong with any of them, it just comes down to what you want. Be safe.

RE: GPS opinions? Navigon 5100? Nuvi 250 or ?? other?

GARMIN!!!!! I have owned both the Garmin and the Navigon. Loved the Garmin, and I can't tell you how much I hated the Navigon. Navigon was just not easy to use like the Garmin. From now on will never have anything but Garmin.

RE: We did it!!

You can get a clear bayonet type fitting pipe that will allow you to see the waste coming out. I remember the first time we did it, too - I didn't know when it would be finished, and after we got the clear Flush King thing, I realized that just "emptying" the tank wasn't getting it all out. The clear pipe thing can be found at Wal-Mart or Camping World or where RV parts are sold. Later, we had a Tornado installed in our tank, and now, I know we get it all out, but generally, I flush it out a couple times before I know we get it all out. The movie, RV, comes to mind! Only RV'ers know about dumping your waste! LOL I have the Flush King fitting. It has the Bayonnet fitting on it. The problem is the end that comes from the TT doesn't have anything for the bayonnet fittings to attatch too. I will be going to the RV store in a few minutes, I'm sure they have something there to fix this problem. We are on our way out again tonight. My wifes LOVES camping now that we have the TT. I wasn't planning on leaving till Friday. She informed me that we were going today. See you all Sunday. I will have pics this time.

RE: Why clean bathrooms?

I also use the camp ground restrooms. One main reason is if I'm setting there eating a sandwich... I guess it would be important to you that the facilities are clean. I prefer to eat my sandwich in my RV or outside at the picnic table. :B That is what I'm talking about. I don't want to be setting there eating a sandwich in my TT then the kids come in a start doing a #2 in the bathroom. I don't think that little door with the 3 inch gap at the top will do much for keeping the smell contained to the bathroom. I understand that people may think its weird to not use the TT bathroom as much. Its not because I'm afraid to clean it or anything like that. its just that I don't want to smell it while trying to escape the mid afternoon heat. Emergencies and #1 is fine with me. But we always try to get as close to the bathrooms as possible. And if its only 20 or 30 yards to them you can bet your butt myself and my family will be using them. But on the other hand if the restroom is just awfull I would have no problem with them using the TT.

RE: Why clean bathrooms?

I also use the camp ground restrooms. One main reason is if I'm setting there eating a sandwich I don't want someone dropping the kids off at the pool 2 feet from me. We only use the toilet in camper for emergencies if we are close to CG bathrooms.

RE: We did it!!

Ther must be something wrong with the sewer outlet pipe if you have to hold it in pace while dumping. Be sure to get that figured out! I honestly don't know if I "had" to hold it there. I just did hold it there to be sure I didn't have an even bigger mess on my hands. Was hoping that someone on here could tell me where to get a new piece that has the locking pins. Thanks

RE: We did it!!

Where did you camp? I noticed your tag, was from Arkansas. We camped at Blue Mountain Lake. It is on the south side of Mt. Magazine. Nice campgrounds, but the lake water is pretty dirty. That is my only complaint about it.

RE: We did it!!

One end of the sewer hose doesn't have the hookie things, the other end does. Yeah the pipe that comes from the TT doesn't have the little hook things but our sewer hose does. So that is why I had to hold it on there. It didn't have anything to hook to, it just slipped over the end of the pipe from the TT.

We did it!!

We took out TT out for the first time. We have had it for 2 weeks and finally got to take it out for the first time. The whole family went and I still had to tent camp the first night. My mother father, sister, her husband and all the kids went. So I was the nice guy and let them all sleep inside. Man it was HOT!!!! Everything went pretty well. I think the only thing that went sorta bad was the dumping of the black tank, and its not even that bad. The outlet pipe doesn't have the little hook things to connect the hose to it. So I had to hold the sewer hose to the TT. It leaked a little but not bad. We had our pontoon boat there as well. It was a hit with the kids they went tubing and kneeboarding off of it. My daughter and one of my nieces got up on the kneeboard for the first time. Friday night was a good night. When I got to the camp another guy had pulled in just ahead of me. I introduced myself to him, and asked of he minded me helping him set up his TT. He asked why I told him it was my first time camping in mine, and I wanted to learn by helping him. So I helped him set his up then he helped me with mine. It was pretty nice having a seasoned camper help me along the way. As he was leaving he asked if I like Bluegrass or Country Music. I said well of course. He said "Well good cause I'm gonna play you some tonight." I asked if he liked homemade wine, he said "Of course". And I told him good cause we are gonna drink some tonight. So we had a good time that night drinking homemade wine and listening to him and his band play music. It was a great first trip. The worse part was tearing down and coming home. But I was excited to get home and tell all you guys and gals about it. Thanks for listening. :D

RE: South Bend

Would be nice to at least have electricity, and water. We can find a place to dump later. How do you become an Elk Member? Would it be worth becoming a member to stay at the place. I know nothing about the Elk's. Only thing I know is there is a lodge in the city I live in. Thanks for all the information.

South Bend

My father and I are going to South Bend Indiana in September. We are going to be pulling the TT up there this year instead of getting a hotel. Anyone have any suggestions as to where to stay. Maybe someone that has stayed there before or lives close to there. Thanks in advance. Brian

RE: Before it becomes a lawn decoration

Call me a redneck (after all I am from Arkansas) but the trail idea is cool I think. If it was done right it could be made to look pretty nice. Imagine how much storage you could have to with compartments built under the front and both sides. Then if it was put on a trailer long enough to haul a 4 wheeler or golfcart on the rear. WOW where I come from that would be better than new tires on a mobile home!!! Who cares what others think, if they don't like what you have then they don't have to look. As long as you aren't hurting anyone else. Life is to short to worry about what others think. HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: How Long to cool down??

Thanks for all the help. I think I will just start it up Thursday night before I go to bed. I'm suppose to work all day Friday but hoping that I don't have to. So if its started Thursday night it will be ready incase I do get of early. We are just going to a small lake about 40 miles from here but it will be fun. It was a favorite of mine when I was a kid. Now hopefully it will be a favorite of my children's.

RE: How Long to cool down??

Thanks for all the help. This is my first TT, and I was freaking out when it didn't get could in like a hour. The freezer got cold pretty fast but the fridge part didn't. I think that I about have it all lined out to go out for the first time. I have to replace the bathtub controls tomorrow one of the pipes was cracked in it. Other than that we just cleaned it, flushed the tanks and lines. Now its time to pack up and get out there.
